Public Art Fund award for ‘Making Space’
We’re pleased to announce that the Library has been awarded funding from the Scottish Arts Council for a new public art project, ‘Making Space’. This is the first stage of a project to develop an exciting new public artwork for GWL when we move to the Mitchell Library.
More money in the bag!
The Robertson Trust has awarded us £75,000 towards building costs to construct our education / lifelong learning floor in our new Mitchell Library space.

Women on the Shelf Support Assistant
Supporting the management of the Women on the Shelf Fundraising initiative. This is a new initiative designed to raise essential funds towards our Mitchell Library refurbishment and we need as many people and organisations as possible to invest in and support us.
What have women done for Scotland?
Nothing? That’s the conclusion that we might draw if we look around our cities and towns. GWL aims to redress this balance through its new ‘Women on the Shelf’ initiative.
Building for the Future
If I had a pound for every time someone asks me the question, ‘When are you moving to the Mitchell Library?’ we would have already raised the one million pounds needed for the refurbishment work. Of course it is a fair, as well as frequently asked, question; after all it has been over 3 years since we first announced that the Mitchell Library will be our wonderful future home.
