Telling lies for fun
I teach creative writing at the GWL and Helen said to me today, “Donna, can you write a blog post for us about what you do?” Oh dear. Basically, what I can teach anyone about creative writing boils down to just one sentence: You can’t teach anyone creative writing. So, I’m here under false pretences and I’ve been trying to keep that quiet. And now the cat’s out of the bag. I guess now I should just slink off home and never darken the Library’s doors again.
Telling Tales
Fairy tales are one of our first introductions to the world around us, but too often these tales portray women in a negative way. Telling Tales is a chance to get together with other women to talk about what our stories mean to us and to discuss what we would like to tell children about the world around them.
Life Dramas
In many cultures women have found ways to express themselves through drama. This Glasgow Women’s Library Theatre Group is an opportunity, through a method called Theatre of the Oppressed, for women to come together to discuss issues that affect their lives and share some of the skills we can use to overcome these. Beginners to drama very welcome.
