<li>Inputting Petty Cash Income and Expenditure into SAGE</li>
<li>Counting Petty Cash</li>
<li>Paying bills</li>
</ul>
<h4>Essential skills and qualities required:</h4>
<ul>
<li>Confident with IT Systems</li>
<li>Previous experience of data inputting to a very accurate level</li>
<li>Previous experience of SAGE Line 50 would be an advantage but training can be given</li>
<li>Neat handwriting</li>
<li>Experience with cash handling and good numeracy skills</li>
<li>Attention to detail</li>
<li>Confident at working independently</li>

		<description><![CDATA[The Library's Adult Literacy and Numeracy (ALN) project is looking for volunteer tutors to support women to develop their literacy and numeracy skills, in group and one to one sessions.]]></description>

<p>The Library&#8217;s Adult Literacy and Numeracy (ALN) project is looking for volunteer tutors to support women with developing their literacy and numeracy skills, in group and one to one sessions.</p>
<h3>Main duties and responsibilities</h3>
<ul>
<li>To build a supportive relationship with women.</li>
<li>To identify with women their preferred learning styles and tailor learning opportunities accordingly.</li>
<li>To plan and deliver learning opportunities in consultation with women and / or co facilitators.</li>
<li>To support women to develop and maintain their Individual Learning Plan or Group Learning Plan.</li>
<li>To complete monitoring and evaluation paperwork.</li>
<li>To attend relevant training, where appropriate.</li>
<li>To commit to supporting women for at least 12 weeks.</li>
<li>To highlight any relevant learning opportunities to women.</li>
<li>To meet with ALN staff to discuss any training / support needs and to feedback relevant information.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Skills and Qualities</h3>
<ul>
<li>Good communication skills.</li>
<li>Dependable and good time keeper.</li>
<li>Understanding of respect for confidentiality.</li>
<li>Friendly and interested in meeting new people.</li>
<li>Understands the importance of literacy and numeracy skills for women’s equality.</li>
<li>Patient and understanding of complexities of women’s lives.</li>
<li>Good basic literacy and numeracy skills and a desire to learn.</li>
<li>Some experience of delivering learning opportunities, or a willingness to develop these skills.</li>
</ul>

<h3>Volunteer tasks description:</h3>
<p>The main focus of this volunteer post will be to assist the Audience Development Intern who is working towards the development, coordination and promotion of a large Arts Event and Auction Fundraiser.  Glasgow Women’s Library is working towards relocation to Glasgow’s prestigious Mitchell Library, where it will re-launch as an accredited national<br />
resource in refurbished premises of excellence: a Women’s Library of Scotland.  This event will raise funds for our move to the Mitchell and the £1.5 million needed for capital building works and refit.  </p>
<h4>Tasks will include:</h4>
<ul>
<li>Researching possible donations for the auction</li>
<li>Researching possible venues and catering contributors</li>
<li>Researching possible supporters, sponsprs and funders</li>
<li>Securing spornsorship for the event</li>
<li>Compiling and updating databases of all of above</li>
<li>Assisting Lifelong Learning Coordinator and Audience Development Intern</li>
<li>Assisting with organisation of event</li>
<li>Working closely with GWL Staff Team</li>
<li>Assisting with the promotion of event</li>
<li>Raising awareness of the current work of GWL and future plans</li>
<li>Assisting with event bookings and ticket sales</li>
</ul>
<h4>Essential skills and qualities required:</h4>

<p>Glasgow Women’s Library is looking for volunteers to take part in an exciting Arts project which involves working with women’s groups around Glasgow to create individual life books using scrap booking techniques. </p>
<p>The women will be encouraged to reflect on their life history, acknowledge their skills and experience, explore their interests and ambitions and mark their achievements.  These will be incorporated into their life book. </p>
<p>The life books can include family history; favourites/likes/dislikes; skills/experience; ambitions/aspirations, memorable stories; poems/creative writing, recipes etc.  They can chose to write in their community language.</p>
<p>Apart from the fabulous range of creative paper and gems/embellishments to choose from, the women can also include photographs and personal documents such as certificates / qualifications. </p>
<p>The project aims to raise the confidence and self esteem of the participants in a fun and creative way. </p>

<h3>Volunteer tasks description:</h3>
<p>Providing assistance and support to the project team to organise a launch and exhibition for the Women, Migration and Pollokshields Projects:</p>
<p>Pollokshields Development Agency and Glasgow Women’s Library are conducting a project on ‘Women, Migration and Pollokshields’, which aims to record the experiences of migrant women in Pollokshields since the 1940’s to the present day.  Further to this, highlight and celebrate the contribution migrant women have made to the local area and to Glasgow as a whole.  The stories and pictures of the women will be included in a publication and launched in May 09.  The stories will also be exhibited at St Mungo’s Museum for 6 weeks and thereafter at other relevant settings.</p>
<h4>Tasks will include:</h4>
<ul>
<li>Publicise the launch and exhibition to relevant organisations and groups including preparation of marketing material, newspaper articles.</li>
<li>Work with the team and artists to plan and prepare the launch and exhibition space</li>
<li>Provide assistance in facilitation of the Launch</li>
</ul>
<h4>Essential skills and qualities required:</h4>
<ul>
<li>Excellent interpersonal, communication and networking skills</li>
<li>Good organisation Skills</li>

Minimum period of volunteering required: 3 months</p>
<h3>Volunteer tasks description:</h3>
<p>Supporting the management of the Women on the Shelf Fundraising initiative. This is a new initiative designed to raise essential funds towards our Mitchell Library refurbishment and we need as many people and organisations as possible to invest in and support us.</p>
<p>It involves 3 levels of sponsorship:</p>
<ul>
<li>For £100 anyone can sponsor a shelf and dedicate it to a woman of your choice.</li>
<li>For £1,000 an organisation, group, business or corporate supporter can sponsor a complete library section. The Library aims to have over 100 sections reflecting a range of issues focussing on women and we are looking for major donors to be our partners.</li>
<li>For £10 you can sponsor an individual book by a woman.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Tasks will include:</h3>
<ul>
<li>Registering donors on WotS database</li>
<li>Inputting new contacts into the WotS database</li>
<li>Managing the WotS database</li>
<li>Finding avenues to promote WotS scheme to wider network</li>
<li>Researching organisations for sponsoring sections of library</li>
<li>Researching funding for producing gift certificates, WotS packs, plaques, publicity, design work and printing</li>
<li>Updating GWL website with dedication information (i.e. Shelf, Book, Section)</li>
<li>Updating thank you book with donors</li>
</ul>
<h4>Essential skills and qualities required:</h4>
<ul>
<li>Confidence with computer programmes, in particular Microsoft Access or similar</li>
<li>Database entry experience</li>

<p>Volunteer role: New Neighbourhood Research Assistant<br />
Type of work: Networking, administration, information and data gathering, promotional<br />
Supervision: Creative Development Manager<br />
Average weekly hours required: 7 hours, daytime<br />
Minimum period of volunteering required: 3 months</p>
<h3>Volunteer tasks description:</h3>
<p>This volunteering opportunity will be involved working on a recently developed project that will enable the organisation to get to know its future new neighbourhood in a One Mile radius around the Mitchell Library. Tasks will include getting to know the whole Library team and their work, keeping accurate records, making contact with a very wide range of different groups, individuals and organisations and helping promote the Library’s work to a broad range of new potential partners, learners and service users.</p>
<h4>Essential skills and qualities required:</h4>
<ul>
<li>Confidence with computer programmes</li>
<li>Database entry and management and web searching</li>
<li>Confident and friendly telephone manner</li>
<li>Confident and capable of working independently</li>
<li>Eagerness to learn</li>

<p>Volunteer role: LLL Admin and Database Management<br />
Type of work: Administration, Information and Data checking and input, IT<br />
Supervision: Lifelong Learning Assistant<br />
Average weekly hours required: From 7 hours, daytime<br />
Minimum period of volunteering required: 3 months</p>
<h3>Volunteer tasks description:</h3>
<p>Supporting the Lifelong Learning team with maintenance of the Lifelong Learning Database, logging of learners and events, updating the LLL events on the GWL website, and general support. Volunteer assistance on these tasks will be a significant help when the LLL team are collating their quarterly and annual reports for the funders.</p>
<h4>Tasks will include:</h4>
<ul>
<li>Registering learners on LLL database</li>
<li>Inputting new contacts into the LLL database</li>
<li>Cross referencing current email lists with LLL database and merging into one list.</li>
<li>Inputting courses and events </li>
<li>Inputting evaluation information from forms and general feedback </li>
<li>Inputting learner baseline information</li>
<li>Updating GWL website with new/past event information</li>
<li>Updating various promotional websites (i.e. The List, Facebook, s1play.com, etc) </li>
<li>Maintaining the GWL Facebook site, responding to queries and bookings</li>
<li>Collate information on past events and check database is up to date</li>
<li>Updating LLL courses and events into GWL events diary </li>
</ul>
<h4>Essential skills and qualities required:</h4>
<ul>
<li>Confidence with computer programmes, in particular Microsoft Access or similar</li>
<li>Database entry experience</li>
<li>Database management experience would be beneficial </li>
<li>Some Web experience would be beneficial </li>
<li>Confident and friendly telephone manner</li>
<li>Capable of working independently</li>
<li>Eagerness to learn</li>
<li>Willingness to adapt (GWL is a busy working environment with no dedicated reception staff, all staff currently share in tasks including welcoming learners, keeping the space tidy and answering the phone)</li>
