In advance of the Speaking Out exhibition opening on 7 March at Inverness Museum and Art Gallery and the Highland Record Centre (the exhibition is being split over the two venues), research student Emma Forbes shares a review of the exhibition while it was on display at the Museum of Edinburgh.

The Speaking Out project visited the Scottish Parliament this week to officially launch our project film, which is now available to view on the website, and engage those in government with the history of the Women’s Aid movement in Scotland. It was an evening of sisterhood, solidarity and singing. Here, Emma recaps the evening’s highlights.

Volunteer Susie Dalton introduces the Speaking Out learning resource which will be launched in June 2017 for use in secondary schools and by youth organisations. She discusses the importance of empowering young people to be aware of abusive behaviours, gender inequality and the role that Women’s Aid in Scotland has played (and still plays) in supporting women, children and young people with experience of domestic abuse.
