All Women Poetry Slam – deadline for performers

Due to a fantastic response to our callout for poetry slam  competitors, there will now be a deadline of 5pm, Tuesday 14th June for potential participants to contact us. Names will be drawn after this deadline and the successful 12 performers will be contacted by Friday  17th June.  If you don’t want to perform, you can still come along and watch. The Slam is at the Out of the Blue Cafe, the Drill Hall, Edinburgh on Thursday 23rd June, 6pm-9pm.  For more information see our website, contact Morag or Ele at GWL or book an audience place at edinburghreads.eventbrite.co.uk

I was looking for a book club to join in Glasgow since I am hoping to live in the city again for long periods when I come ‘home’ to spend more time with my 90 yr old mum and I found your website inspiring and interesting. My daughter is Hollie McNish who is a performance poet and campaigner for women’s rights and also a past UK slam poetry champion. She has written 3 books which I will send you copies of for the library if you wish. She did perform at Aye Write too this year. With best wishes Pam McNish

Hi Pam,
Thanks for getting in touch. I’ll pass your offer of your daughter’s poetry publications on to Wendy our librarian who is currently on holiday. We do run a Story Cafe every Thursday 12.30-2.30, so it might be worth checking this out on our website. We also have a book group, but there is a waiting list as far as I know. Thanks for thinking of us and hope to see you in the library sometime soon!

HI Pam – Wendy our librarian has confirmed that we would be happy to accept these 3 poetry books for our collection.
Please just drop them off if you are in Glasgow and ask for me or for Wendy Kirk our librarian. Or you can post them if this is easier.
Best wishes,

Morag
