Creating a Women of the Games Legacy Collection

Glasgow 2014, XX Commonwealth Games: Creating a Women of the Games Legacy Collection

As these wonderful Games draw to an end, Glasgow Women’s Library would like to build a collection of artefacts and memorabilia to mark and celebrate the achievements of women involved for future generations to enjoy, be inspired by and learn from.

From volunteers to competitors, Ceremony performers to supporters, Baton Relay bearers to broadcasters, we would love to create a special Glasgow 2014, XX Commonwealth Games Collection to add to this unique museum, archive and library.

We would be honoured, proud and grateful if any women involved would consider donating an item for this special collection: anything that is particular to this occasion and that you can write a sentence about. This could be a competitor’s bib, some notes, song lyrics, a clothing item, a charm, a souvenir, a lanyard or anything else that we could exhibit, conserve and treasure to mark the spirit of women at these Games. We are happy to arrange courier, collection or postage for this, or to receive items by post or in person at GWL.

Congratulations from the whole team at Glasgow Women’s Library to everyone who has worked so hard in making these the best ever Commonwealth Games.

We would love to hear from you and please contact us if you would like to discuss this further.

Hi
I was not able to o to any of the games as I was away in Norway, but I did attend a Commonwealth multi-faith service at Glasgow University and have a copy of the order of service and a few photographs. If you think it will be worth adding to the collection, I’ll be delighted to hand it over to the Library.

Hi Glasgow Women’s Library,

I will donate a signed photo of our gold medal winning team to your legacy collection for the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

I will send it through to you by post in the next couple of months!

Thanks again Lisa Alexander Head Coach of the Australian Netball Team.

Dear Lisa
Thanks so much for your comment and for responding so positively to the Legacy Collection.
That would be perfect, thank you!
I look forward to receiving the photo, and thanks again.
