LGBT History Month

LGBT Acronym PosterFebruary is LGBT History Month and every year there are a range of interesting and diverse events. This year we have two events in the programme. Launching on Friday 14th February is our LGBT Acronym Exhibition where the young women of Hens Tae Watch Oot Fur, an LGBT women’s project based at Glasgow Women’s Library, invite you to an exhibition of materials which consider the history and importance of the LGBT acronym.

On Thursday 13th February at 6pm, we are thrilled to have the Editors of Russian Lesbian Journal, Ostrovat the Library to give a talk. Co-editors, Olgerta Kharitonova and Sabine Hoffman, join us from Moscow to talk about the journal and about lesbian and feminist activism in contemporary Russia. They will discuss the LGBT situation in Russia, which is currently in the spotlight in view of the controversies around official pronouncements about the Sochi Winter Olympics this month.
